The Dams Feeding Tehran Have Run Dry
Iran is in its worst drought in decades — 19 of its 31 provinces in severe drought, rainfall about 45% below normal. By autumn 2025, the five dams that supply the capital had fallen to a fraction of their capacity.

The same source reports that nationwide, 19 major dams — about 10% of the country's reservoirs — are below 5% full.
